Q&A with Art Director Esther Ahn
What inspired you to create Dear Tree?
E.A.: Dear Tree was inspired by the belief that great things take time to grow. Like nurturing a tree, we support each artist’s development at their own pace. My 20+ years in graphic design and visual arts influence our programs, integrating diverse mediums like painting, ceramics, and metalsmithing to offer convergence education.
What sets Dear Tree apart?
E.A.: We believe everyone has creativity within them,” Ahn explains. “Our programs are designed to ignite that spark, blending technical learning with experimentation. Whether it’s kids exploring art for the first time or adults rediscovering creativity, we guide each individual’s journey with care and flexibility.
Memorable Moments at Dear Tree
E.A.: One of my favorite moments was when a 5-year-old gained confidence in her art after starting with self-doubt. It’s magical to witness these transformations. Art helps people express themselves—whether it’s a shy teen opening up through their artwork or an adult rediscovering creativity after years away.

Balancing Accessibility and Quality
M.L.: Our facilities are designed to meet the needs of both beginners and seasoned artists,” says Lee. “We listen to community feedback and keep our resources, like high-quality art supplies and STEAM tools, up to date. This ensures accessibility without compromising quality.
Future Vision
